The Predator has had some fierce opponents in its Hollywood career. Variety Magazine is reporting that Adrien Brody is set to star in the new Predator film, being directed by Nimrod Anatol. Brody, reportedly, is set to play a mercenary who goes head to head with the alien hunters. The film is set to be released July 9, 2010.
20th Century Fox is banking on the recent success of other unconventional heroes in films lately (such as Toby Maguire, Johnny Depp, and Robert Downey Jr. as a barometer as to whether the movie going public will be willing to accept a nerdy mercenary (who was last seen ruining Peter Jackson's ill fated King Kong update).
Personally, this is just the next move of this strange Hollywood movement to cast soft nerdy boys as the hero protagonist in films. I am half shocked Michael Cera and Jesse Eisenberg are not already in this movie.
