Not a year since having become a break out star on to the national political scene is stepping down from her office as governor of Alaska. Sarah Palin, the RILF fresh off her very public feud with David Letterman over some bad shtick, has decided to forgo running for a second term as Alaska's governor and is stepping down from the office- handing over control to her Lt. Governor Sean Parnell.
"... I've decided it's best to transfer the authority of governor to Lt. Gov. [Sean] Parnell, and I am willing to do this so that this administration with its positive agenda and its accomplishments and its successful road to an incredible future for Alaska, so that it can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success."
There is no word as to why exactly the rather do-able republican governor stepped down from her post, though one digging through her muddy sports analogies in her address might be inclined that it had to do with the negative media attention being focused on her children as of late.
"Let me go back quickly to a comfortable analogy for me, and that's sports - basketball - and I use it because you are naïve if you don't see a full-court press from the national level picking away right now a good point guard. Here's what she does. She drives through a full-court press, protecting the ball, keeping her head up because she needs to keep her eye on the basket and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can win, and that is what I'm doing, keeping our eye on the ball - those represent sound priorities - remember, they include energy independence and smaller government, national security and freedom, and I know when it's time to pass the ball for victory and I've given my reasons now, very candidly and truthfully, and my last day won't be for another few weeks so the transition will be very smooth.''
Palin claimed the move to not be "politics as usual" (doing so on a national broadcast via the news channels, thus making it a well laid political publicity stunt and thus politics as usual), and did not mention her plans, if any, to further her political career. But she did hint that the attacks made on her children over the past few weeks (especially recent ones on her son Trigg, who has Down syndrome) might have been the crux of her reason for tapping out.
While I for one would love to believe that with these words, the "pit bull with lipstick" is now gone forever, I am smart enough to know that it is never that easy to get rid of evil. With a seven million dollar forward on her yet to be written book (rumored to be titled Mein Kopf, Ya'll) fixing to become a barn burning best seller and Fox News Channel dying to drop armored cars full of cash to get this lippy broad on thier airwaves full time, it is safe to say that Sarah Palin didn't walk away from Alaska to get away from the public eye. She is doing it to be in it more often.
They always come back...
Why would Palin be any different?
