Rush Limbaugh tricked by Internet hoax...

rush_limbaughOn Friday's The rush Limbaugh Show, lovable conservative blowhard Rush Limbaugh went into orgasmic fits as he revealed to his audience what he believed to be the legendary senior thesis of President Obama from when he went to Columbia (rumored to have been made missing due to its incendiary nature).  Limbaugh foamed at the mouth as he ripped the Commander in Chief limb from limb for the "words" being attributed to the young future leader of the free world.  Only problem with this triad to be truthful is that it was stemmed from lies.

Limbaugh fell prey to a fairly elaborate internet hoax in which a blogger wrote or stole some rather leftist ideas, molded them into something passable, and released the fabrication as the words of President Obama in this lost senior thesis.  Combine the time taken to make it look real with Limbaugh's fiery hatred for the man running things these days and you get some pretty compelling radio.

Have a listen, won't you???

Later in the show, once it had been brought to the attention of the most listened to radio political commentator ever that he had in fact been tricked by some hack blogger and that the document he (and others, so it was not just him who bought on the bait) had just been railing about for the past hour or so was a hoax, Limbaugh brushed it off, stating that the quotes (as well as the writing) "felt real".

This whole thing reeks of internet nonsense- the biggest reason why the internet will never become the sole news source for the world.  The internet is fucking full of shit.  Think about it.

jeff-goldblumIf it wasn't for the internet, no one would have blown up Twitter twatting about how Jeff Goldblum had fallen off a cliff while filming a new movie...

mj-hoaxOr would have believed for a moment that Michael Jackson was not dead, but rather moon walking down Ventura Blvd, after hopping out of an ambulance minutes after being pronounced dead...

iran-ufo-hoaxOr that Iran's recent missile tests were in fact being monitored by extraterrestrials acting on a mission from the United Nations in the interest of making sure that it was a test and not a preemptive strike against Israel...

The internet lies people.  The problem here is not that it lies, but that we are gullible enough (or baited so much by our own hate) that be actually believe the lies that it tells.

It lies to you when it tells you that you are 300 emails away from a laptop...

It lies to me when it tells me I am one click away from six pack abs and the secret to attracting women...

It lies to Rush Limbaugh when it tells him that President Obama hates American and wants to collapse the greatest country in the world and that he has been planning on doing so since college...

But as full of shit as the Internet may be...

oreillyIt is still waaay more reliable that that clown O'Reilly...
