Louisiana must have really pissed off God. Every time they start to recover another tragedy happens. An offshore rig owned by Mariner Energy has reportedly exploded in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to the A.P. report:

An offshore oil rig has exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, west of the site of the April blast that caused the massive oil spill.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Casey Ranel says the blast was reported by a commercial helicopter company about 9:30 a.m. CDT Thursday. Seven helicopters, two airplanes and four boats are en route to the site, about 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay along the central Louisiana coast.

Ranel says it hasn't been determined whether the structure is a production platform or a drilling rig or whether workers were aboard. Ranel says smoke was reported but it is unclear whether the rig is still burning.

Rescue helicopters, airplanes and boats were en route to the site, about 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay found on the central Louisiana coast. Initial Coast Guard reports state all 13 crew members from the rig were in the water. There may be injuries, but there were no deaths. We hope that human casualties are kept at a minimum. That being said there is no worse time to live on the Gulf Coast of Louisiana as the shit storm keeps coming. We’ll post more news as later when more is known of the situation.
