God damn... is there anything Barack Obama won't face head on?
First Superman tried to (unsuccessfully I might add) rid the world of Nuclear weapons, and now Barack Obama is looking to try and do so as well.
In a statement he delivered in Prague Sunday, President Obama stated that it was the moral imperative of the world to rid itself of nuclear weapons for all people's sake. While acknowledging to the 20,000 person crowd attending the Eastern European stop of Obama's European Tour that this [the ridding the world of nuclear weapons] is a lofty goal, one that would not be done in his lifetime, Mr. Obama reinforced his pledge by taking a step in its direction; vowing to reduce it warheads and negotiate a new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.
How did the rest of the world react to the kinder, gentler tone of the new American regime? Well, let's see...
Oh, North Korea fired a rocket capable of being used to launch a nuclear missile and the Russians, Iranians, and Venezuelans high fived them for a job well done. Oh... and lots and lots of saber rattling by the Taliban. And threats by Al Qaeda of an imminent terrorist attack on American soil.
I know Obama ran on the whole he was going to change the way the world looked at America but maybe Bush was on to something with that whole having the world shitting in their beds at the mere mention of our name. To quote A Bronx Tale, "Fear lasts longer than Love."
