Germany pulls Red Bull Cola off the shelves...

red_bull_colaSix German states have decided to ban the Red Bull Energy Cola drink from the shelves.  The ban came down due to the German government having found trace amounts of cocaine in the popular energy drink.  While the European nation is looking into whether the beverage breaks the German narcotic laws, the beverage company claims that the cocoa leaf extract in question is used all over the world to flavor beverages (which for some reason sounds to me a lot like corparate speak for "That ain't my coke Officer...").

The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment stated Monday that the cocaine, claimed to be at a level of 0.4 micrograms per liter of the drink, posed no health risk to the immediate public, claiming that the levels are too low to be dangerous.  The Austrian beverage company, in its defense, claimed that the beverage passed similar tests that the company had paid for itself, as well as claiming that thier product was "harmless and marketable in both the U.S. and in Europe".

How much you wanna bet that this is nothing more than a ploy by Red Bull to sell a million cans of the supposedly "coke laced" drink...
