Marijuana Legalization tops Change.org's change list...

american-leafStill want to believe that 2010 is not the year of marijuana????

Think again...

There is one thing topping Change.org's list of the top ten grassroots ideas for good ways to positively change the nation... and it is topping it by a lot.

legalize-marijuana1More important to visitors of the site than universal healthcare, the economy, and getting out of the wars is the legalization and taxation of marijuana for recreational use.  With 1862 total votes (1225 for the out and out legalization and taxation of marijuana for recreational use and another 637 for the legalization of marijuana for medicinal and recreational use), the decriminalization of marijuana is slowly starting to gain the kind of momentum needed for a controversial bill to suddenly become safe enough for vote conscious politicians to put their names on.

Hell, in certain areas it might be enough to get you elected...

Change.org's mission statement behind the Ideas for Change in America project is pretty cut and dry:

"Ideas for Change in America is a crowd-sourcing competition that empowers citizens to identify and build momentum around the most innovative ideas for addressing challenges our country faces.

The 10 most popular ideas will be presented at an event in Washington, DC to relevant members of the Obama Administration, and Change.org will subsequently mobilize its full community to support a series of grassroots campaigns to turn each idea into reality."

obama-changeThat means that if Marijuana Legalization continues on this kid of run, once again (remember last year's YouTube press conference where marijuana legalization was a number one issue there as well...) President Obama and his handlers will hear the cries of the American people to legalize it.

And with the Democratic Party staring at a disenfranchised base- feeling cheated by the lack of progress by their elected officials- it just might the issue to get their base energized with again.  Over fifty percent of American voters favor some sort of marijuana law reform allowing for the legalization and taxation of marijuana.  Pandering to a specific portion is not too far out of the political playbook for most of these slick suit wearing vote whores, and with over half the nation favoring some sort of reform to the law, why not throw a few votes their way...

So hang in there true believers...

Our liberation day is upon us...
