What, what...in the Butt...

in-bedThe most comprehensive survey of the sexual habits of Americans taken since 1994 has finally released the results of its study…

And this country is full of a bunch of freaks…

Filling 130 pages of a special issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, the study offers detailed findings on how often Americans have sex, with whom, and how they respond. In all, 5,865 people, ranging in age from 14 to 94, participated in the survey.

The lead researchers, from Indiana University's Center for Sexual Health Promotion, said the study fills a void that has sexagramgrown since the last comparable endeavor — the National Health and Social Life Survey — was published 16 years ago. Major changes since then include the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, the types of sex education available to young people, the advent of same-sex marriage, and the emergence of the Internet as a tool for social interaction.

Dr. Dennis Fortenberry, a pediatrics professor who was lead author of the study's section about teen sex, said the overall findings of such a huge survey should provide reassurance to Americans who are curious about how their sex lives compare with others.

“Unless, like al-Qaida, you feel there's something abnormal about the American people, what these data say is, ‘This is normal — everything in there is normal.“’

Would I lie to you???

puppet-sexThe study found that men are more likely to achieve orgasm during vaginal intercourse while women are more likely to pretend that they do.

85% of the men said their latest sexual partner had an orgasm, while only 64% of the women reported having an orgasm in their most recent sexual event.

The survey also discovered that while men tend to orgasm most during vaginal intercourse, women require more than one act in order to the same.

condomCartoonThe survey also discovered that most of us are being safer about our love making…

57% of sexually active 14-17 year olds surveyed claimed to have used condoms when they have sex (a similar survey conducted last year for the federal Youth Risk Behavior Survey found about 61% of teens 14-17 do).The survey also found condom usage up in black and Hispanic communities (significantly higher that the more risk taking whites).

Have it your way…

sex_positions_right_angle_varcIt’s a good thing we (for the most part white people) are being safer in the sack cause we sure are going to town on one another…

90% of women (25-29) have given oral sex to a man before (and ten percent claim to have also done so to a female).  85% of men (25-29) stated that they had given oral sex to a woman before (6.3% to a male).

(FUN FACT: 15% of men ages 50-59 claim to have had oral sex from another man at some point in their life!!!  The 70s must have been a wiiiiiild time…)

20070731-analAnother interesting note from the survey was the rise in anal sex among women.20% of women 18-19 years old claim to have had anal sex before (quite a jump considering that all women 18-24 claiming to have had anal in a 1992 survey was just 16%).  The percentage in the 2010 survey jumps from there to a staggering 40% in the 20-24 age bracket.

And it doesn’t stop there…

20% of women in their 20s and 30s respectively claim to have gone rough riding in the past year; a third of them go on to invalidate the whole “it was my boyfriend’s birthday/it slipped in/I ws drunk and in Mexico” excuse by admitting to have engaged in it within the past month (4% of these broads go on to state that they had butt love during their most recent sexual encounter).

Left a twenty on the bed stand for ya…

cartoon-sex-style-funny pictureThe researchers conducting the study said they were struck by the variety of ways in which the subjects engaged in sex — 41 different combinations of sexual acts were tallied, encompassing vaginal and anal intercourse, oral sex, and partnered masturbation.

The survey, the National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior, is one of the most comprehensive studies conducted on these topics in almost two decades, according to the researchers.
