Trump and De Niro exchange words...

You-re-Fired-Trump-For-President--77351Presumptive Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump has found himself in a pisisng war with Robert De Niro…

Over the weekend, the Academy Award winning actor had this to say to NBC’s Brian Williams about Mr. Trump’s presumed bid for the Republican 2012 Presidential Candidacy:

"I won't mention names, but there are certain people on the news in the last couple of weeks -- what they're doing is crazy," he said of the potential presidential candidate, according to the Daily Beast. "They're making statements about people that they don't even back up. Go get the facts before you start saying things about people."

Williams sought clarification from De Niro that his remarks were applicable to Trump and his recent obsession with Obama and his birth certificate. Presumably referring Robert_De_Niro_At_Dohato the billionaire's "Celebrity Apprentice “reality show he asked the Oscar-winning actor, "Any of those people have shows on my network on Sunday night?"

De Niro's responded: "Yes… It’s like a big hustle. It’s like being a car salesman. Don’t go out there and say things unless you can back them up. How dare you? That’s awful to do. To just go out and speak and say these terrible things? Unless you just wanna get over and get the job. It’s crazy.”

(And I’m sure as he said this he was breathing heavy and doing that bug eyed thing he does now when he delivers lines… like he is straining out a gasser he knows he will regret the second it hits the oxygen).

Never one to walk away from a fight, Trump responded to De Niro, stating on Fox & Friends:

"Well he’s not the brightest bulb on the planet.  I’ve been watching him over the years and I like his acting, but you know in terms of when I watch him doing interviews and various other things, we’re not dealing with Albert Einstein."

Wanna Summer on the Edge????

trump-for-president-20123I know I am better than this thought, but for a brief moment I toyed with the idea of Donald Trump actually becoming President of the United States…

I really did…

I openly admit to allowing my brain to spend a few moments of time I could have spent unraveling the mysteries of the world engaging in flights of fancy in a universe where Donald Trump became president.

And it’s fun, allowing my mind to dream of a world being shaped by the “take no prisoners” approach the cartoonish Trump would have upon the world stage…

Motherfuckering world leaders nightly for whatever disrespect he perceived they showed him…

Getting into verbal tussles with outspoken celebrities (“My Fellow Americans, that motherfucker Sean Penn is a liberal prick…”)…

Naming everything after himself…

And it makes me chuckle and it makes me smile…

Right up until it occurred to me that there is a chance, all be it a remote one, that it just might happen…

On its surface, the whole Trump thing is all the makings of just another one of Mr. Trump’s  well-crafted publicity stunt… Let’s the reality star get his mug on the TV (which he loves to do)… gets Mr. Trump’s ass kissed by millions of suffering Americans willing to sell their souls to any Satan dangling the solutions to all the things ailing our nation…

And he’s cursing out Obama and making these populist speeches that end with throngs of people bursting into furious applause and “harrumphs”…

Not too far a reach to see his ego (already acknowledged by many to be a tad bit inflated) get a little more stroked than usual over the whole idea of a nation of people begging him to take over…

He may very well make a little bit of a go at it.

Not like he has anything to lose…

He is a billionaire several times over and an undeniable American icon who sees his country needs a kick in the ass.

And who better to give it than Mr. American Dream himself…

rushcigarToss in the fact that his billionaire friends (like Rush Limbaugh) would be more than happy contributing to a campaign that seems to have little issue calling out struggling president Obama on his shortcomings (something the vast majority of the Republican Party has shown little stomach for doing) and one could easily see Trump at least making it to the first real debate.

Start mixing in an increasing distrust of the American government, a desire for new voices in our political system, and our inbred desire to be drawn to celebrity and it just might be President Obama facing Donald Trump for the Big Chair in November of 2012…

A mere month before the predicted “End of the World” date foreseen by the Mayans thousands of years ago…

Don’t ask for signs if you’re not willing to see them folks…
