Gerald Ford fought Swine Virus

gerald-ford-pictureHow is this for a nugget of information: In 1976, President Gerald Ford, in a preemptive strike, orders a nationwide vaccination program to prevent a swine flu epidemic.  That's right; Gerald Ford issued Swine Flu vaccinations in '76.  This, of course, means that a).  Swine flu is not some new threat that Man has never seen and b). the last time we dealt with the swine flu, the vaccine killed more people that the virus did.

It turned out that the virus vaccine was causing some inoculated people to develop Guillain-Barre Syndrome, which is a disease which paralyses the nerves.  Ultimately, the vaccine made 500 people ill and killed over thirty people and the policy of forced immunization was dropped by the Ford administration later on that year due to public pressure.

Now I am not saying anything about this...

Just putting it out there....
