NASA tries to debunk 2012 rumors...

2012 and the Mayan CalanderThe internet, crackpots, and even a big budget Hollywood movie (set to release this weekend I might add) have all been going mad lately about the coming events of 12/21/12... The "End Date" of the Mayan calendar and widely thought to be the End of the World.  But NASA is determined to settle everyone's uneasiness on the matter.

In a rare question and answer segment on their web site, the American Space Agency took some time to dispel some of the worries that NasaLogomany people have over 2012 and the hype that it has been getting on the internet (both due to the movie and the thousands of web pages with people claiming to have some evidence that the world is going to end on Dec. 21, 2012).

Apparently it is NASA's position that the sun will rise as it has every day prior and shall every day subsequent on Dec. 22nd, 2012.

In its Q&A, the Space Agency claimed that there is nothing to worry about on 12/21/12 (other than getting all of your Christmas shopping finished up); noting that these rumors of calamitynibiru_and_the_anunnaki2 (like the Planet Nibiru entering our orbital path, for example) were merely internet rumor and that there is not a factual basis for any of these claims.  NASA also added that if there had been any validity to these claims at all "...real astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye.  Obviously, it does not exist.  Credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012."

And of course they are going to say that.

NASA is a government agency.  There is zero chance that if the End of the World was imminent, our government would tell us anything.  The anarchy and social collapse that would occur upon finding out that it's all over would be unimaginable.  If the end in imminent, the Government will make their  arrangements, but will allow we, the Littles, to continue along with our day to day oblivious to our coming doom.  And that is if disaster is imminent... Imagine the Hell on Earth that would happen if people start really believing that there will be no world left after 12/21/12.  food-riotWhy follow the law... why go to work... Why care.

So take the words of NASA with a grain of salt on this one...  Sure they do make some good points on the matter (like that whole no one who knows anything buys into this horseshit claim), but this might be nothing more than another misinformation campaign by our Leaders to keep us under control until the inevitable occurs.
