A Russian scientist is predicting a new Ice Age to happen in our lifetime.
A "Little Ice Age" is going to kick off in about four years. At least that is the word from Habibullo Abdussamatov, head space researcher at the Palkovo Astronomical Institute of St. Petersburg, Russia. Abdussamatov was speaking yesterday at the Heartland Institute's Fourth International Conference on Climate Change in Chicago, which began Sunday and ends today.
Check out the videos from his speech, in order to see what he' talking about:
I understand these two clips were kind of like having the bad guy from Eastern Promises reading your old science text book from high school, so let me see if I can help.
Abdussamatov is basically saying that between the years 1998- 2005, the Earth was going through a heating cycle, with years 2005-2008 being the highest recorded.
But that increase in average temperature, Abdussatov says, are fixing to start coming down over the next few years- through 2014- oscillating the temperature gains made from 1998-08. It is Abdussatov's belief that these temperature increased (as well as the coming decreases) are being caused due to solar activity. The cooling, he alleges, is brought about by a reduction of sun spot activity from 2003-2005, which Abdussamatov predicts would continue to drop to a new minimum in 2042, resulting in a deep global temperature minimum in the years 2055-2060.
"My predictions are looking better and better with each passing year," Abdussamatov declared.
Abdussamatov has been speaking for a while on the changes in the Earth's climate, especially on why he thinks it is changing.
In October, 2009, he published a paper in which he tracked sunspot activity going back to the 19th century to argue that total sun irradiance, or TSI, is the primary factor responsible for causing climate variations on Earth, not carbon dioxide. Moreover, Abdussamatov's analysis of sun activity data has led him to conclude that the Earth is entering a prolonged cooling phase, because sunspot activity is currently in a phase regarded as a "minimum."
"Observations of the sun show that as for the increase in temperature, carbon dioxide is 'not guilty,'" Abdussamatov wrote, "and as for what lies ahead in the coming decades, it is not catastrophic warming, but a global and very prolonged temperature drop."
Well... ain't that a kick in the twat for the Global Warming freaks out there...
Who would have ever thought that the earth's main heat source would have been directly responsible for the heating and cooling of the surface of the earth... next your going to tell me something like gravity is what causes things to fall...I seriously doubt that this story is going to get any play in the mainstream press, thought it really should...
