At 8pm on September 11th, 2010 diverted inbound flights to an airport in Baotou, a city in Inner Mongolia.
The alert was triggered at the airport when erratically moving bright lights were spotted in the sky over the airport. Some reports coming out of Mongolia are also alleging that air traffic controllers at the Hohhot Air Traffic Management Bureau spotted a yet to be identified craft on the radar as well.
About an hour after being spotted the object and the lights both suddenly disappeared, allowing the diverted crafts to finally land.
This has been the eighth UFO sighting in the skies over China this summer, beginning with the sighting on July 7th over the Xiaoshan airport, responsible for diverting a few flights also.
While previous sightings (including the one on July 7th) have been explained away rather quickly (in most cases)by the Chinese government as nothing more than a “military exercise”, there has yet to be any word mentioned as to the source of these lights.
