The Death of Free Speech...

6514b-badgeIt pains me to say what I am about to say…

We’ve discussed this point time and again, pointing out the subtle slippery slope our countrymen were dragging us towards; ever increasing sensitivity to the words, images, and traditional thoughts that were once common in our American Culture. And now, officially, I think it is safe to say that Freedom of Speech is dead. And you stupid, stupid Progressives did it, getting drunk on the powers of fear and intimidation that their whining and demands for "tolerance" have wrought.

Because thanks to your guys and your faberge egg self esteems, American freedom of speech is dead.

Dead as disco.

Dead as Elvis.

Dead as poor Prince Oberyn, it's beleaguered head crushed under murderous hands of the Progressive Movement's Champion... Their Mountain, Political Correctness.

Now I'll give you that it's a bit of heavy handed hyperbole... Proclaiming that the Freedom of Speech is "dead" in as far as our Constitution goes. And you're right... The Government  has yet to try and sick stormtroopers on those that say what they would rather not hear (accountants and bureaucrats maybe... But not stormtroopers). But rather, it is dead in its spirit and tradition among the People; the freedom of pure and total expression sent to the way side in order to preserve the fragile feelings and self image of a very vocal and dramatically outgunned minority.

It won't be killed from the advancements that the Government spearheads (though if Michelle Obama has it her way, that might change soon), but because a generation now, made up of children raised in a cocoon that has protected them during their formative years from any and every discomfort that the cruel, cold, and insensitive world could bring to their precious self esteems and egos built on soft sandy foundations of positive reinforcements, self affirmations, and their mother's love, have grown up, have gone or are going to college, and are starting to demand that everything in real life that bothers them, or offends them, or in any 6514b-freespeechother such way makes them feel uncomfortable be taken away.

Just as the Generation before them, choking on the fires set by eleven historical arsonists, begged for their rights to privacy and certain previously inalienable civil liberties be curtailed for the promise of security, so too will this Millenial Generation demand protection from their nightmares.

Take the recent rash of commencement addressees being shouted down or otherwise removed from the event, not because of what they were going to say at the event itself but for things they have said in their political lives that they do t agree with (not illegal or racist, mind you, but political disagree with)...

Or the talks in some State capitals to try and stamp out "workplace bullying" (of adults, mind you)...

Or the Mozilla guy getting railroaded out of his position for personal political donations...

Or Frat parties that have garnered protests, expulsions, and national attention featuring controversial 6514b-thought-policethemes...

Or the ill fated campaign to remove the word "Bossy" from our vocabularies...

That cute thing Duke did where phrases like "Man Up" and "Don't be a Pussy" were to be buried away as we did our primordial grunts...

And then there's Rupaul having to apologies for saying "trannie"...

Black football players fined for saying "Nigga"....

And so forth and so on, every day our news littered with examples of various public and private citizens being forced out on the public stage to prostrate themselves before the "clambering" mob; begging forgiveness for thoughts and expressions they may have said (the staggering majority of these instances said its nary a drop of hate, violence, or intention beyond being funny or conversational).

"In fear of becoming dinosaurs we are turning into sheep"

I'm sure you have noticed it, a reservation in conversations- both personal and professional- as you fear the weight of your words on your future... Something growing up I was told happened a lot in the USSR. This 6514b-freezpeechzoneuneasiness has come purely at the hands of Progressives, their power wrought within this fear of chastisement.

Their technique (no matter the cause) is pretty much the same: They stand before us demanding "open discussion" of these issues; their hopes to pin their various movements as some sort of noble struggle for base liberties. Eventually they find themselves in these so desired conversations, and then they shriek as the opinions turn counter; blood curdling cries of hate and discrimination attempting to drown out any point contrary to the message they would like us all to hold. They then decry any opinion to the contrary as impediments to tolerance, never once seeing the irony of their nuclear reaction while they demand society bend each and every opinion they might hold in order to "tolerate" their way of life as they demand lunch mobs and protests to shame the Monster.

And it's not a healthy pattern of behavior for a society to hold...

It creates a sort of cultural fascism; stifling thoughts in fear of having whatever unpopular opinions you might hold outed to the general public. Eventually, as we are starting to see with these "bullying" concerns, these fascist desires to control thought and action will need to be weaponized; the teeth usually applied by Government agents.

Eventually, Progressives will demand similar laws to those already found Canada and Britain, where the State issues fines for various forces of hate and hurtful speech (be they spoken, performance, or posted on the Facebook). There's no reason to think that theY wouldn't, seeing how easily they are willing to cast off the a Second Amendment because of fear of lone gunmen and the Fourth Amendment due to bearded boogie men lashing out at our prosperity and liberties.

And it's not right...

You don't have the right to not be offended...

Or to never hear ugly words or differing opinions...

Nor find yourself in a situation where you might hear something that makes you uncomfortable or angry.

6514b-hate-speech

You have the right to ignore it, or maybe fire back a few words of your own, but you don't have the right to demand it to be silenced.

I get it... What I'm bitching about, while cunty, isn't a violation of free speech. Hell, the cries to outlaw such talk 6514b-mouths-babesis just as much free speech as the speech it is complaining about.

But it is slowly bleeding out the Spirit behind that Law... The Spirit that should be held within each and every freedom loving American citizen, and that is the only thing that keeps our slimy, say anything to get a vote, albatrosses that we cling to for Governmental leadership and as the stewards of Liberties from taking each and every Right we have away from us "for our own good".

And once that Spirit is dead, there ain't no way it is ever going to come back...
