I'm ashamed of Americans (sometimes...)

NYCPillowFight2011-17362People are always asking me “Thom, why is a country as great as America seemingly doing a header right down the drain?  Is it Obama???  Those tight assed Republicans???”

And usually I come up with some easy to digest analogy about cycles of empires and changing winds of time... never really taking the thought past beyond that first superficial inch of thought because- well- it is hard to shine the light on truth with people unwilling to see reality for what it really is (in other words: your common Americans...).

People like thinking that things suck because Obama is an incompetent retard or because the Republicans are working in league with the Catholics and the Mormons (I know, who would have thought those would be the allegiances in the end...)because in thinking that it allows them to never have to think about what has really caused the problems... themselves.

But, thanks to the wondrous creation of the Internet, I can finally illustrate in as clear a manner as possible the point I have been trying to make for years now but never felt capable of making it...

If anyone ever wanted to know why America is losing its standing in the world take this video into consideration...

While twenty-somethings all over the world are busy voicing discontent and changing their worlds, American twenty-somethings are too busy making a statement...

I believe it is "we're idiots"...

My friends I give you “Pillow Fight 2011”...

Proud to be an American???

How Chinese tanks are not rolling down the streets of Manhattan right now just baffles my mind...

I can see why middle America isn’t rising up with pitchforks and torches to stand against the abuses and wastes of our bloated and oppressive Federal Government... They are too busy supporting families and making livings to be worried about much more...

420x316-alg_libya_revolutionBut tell me how, in the midst of maybe the tightest job market in a generation, two and a half foreign wars being conducted, a Federal Government shutting down due to a debate over how much more money we are going to be spending that we don’t have (because friends, if these cheating motherfuckers in expensive suits are not talking about cutting $1.7 trillion from the 2011 budget then they are not really cutting spending so much as curbing how deep into further debt we will go), and undeniable corruption and abuse of power, the young people in arguably the most powerful city on Earth are using not just their abundant spare time but their right to assemble peaceably as well as social media tools (the same ones used by young people in Egypt, Libya and other countries to oust their governments) to stage a fucking pillow fight?

Are we fucking two????

A motherfucking pillow fight?!?!?!

No wonder we are still fighting Al Queda ten years fucking later...

Every time these rag headed jerks thinks about running up a white flag of surrender, they catch some video of Americans pillow fighting (or group dancing, or playing Hide-n-Seek, or having a snow ball fight) and immediately get themselves a second wind knowing the only Americans they are going to have to fight in this war are already there...  They really are fighting our best and our brightest, leaving nothing to defend the ol’ terra firma but a bunch of retards with way too much free time and a complete disinterest in ever being more than a perpetual college freshman.

And that’s being optimistic...

I’d love to believe I am being pessimistic or maybe reading too much into something silly and fun but seriously... I can’t be the only person who has noticed that things have been changing for a while now.. and it’s not been for the better.

We just seems like we aren’t as responsible as we once were and, despite however much one would think that it would be terrible to live in a nation full of grown ups, maybe it’s about time a few us thought about it.
